For the Macbeth assignments: If you are watching the production, you do not have to read separately. You only have to do one or the other.

As I told you in class, I am reducing the essential work for this week because most of us are going to a church event and won't have time to get everything done. I have highlighted what is absolutely required. If you can do everything, that's great. If you can't, just do what's essential.

Don't forget to go through the presentation booklist and make a tentative decision about which book you will be reading. WRITE IT DOWN on your assignment page, please. If you're considering more than one book, write them all down on the page. We can talk about the books if you have questions about them. We can also talk about the presentations. Be ready with questions if you have any.

Imitation in Writing book... it looks like this: I think there is a third version of the cover also. If yours doesn't look like this, no problem. It should say Medieval Legends on the cover.

Here's an interesting article: https://lookingnorth.blog/2020/07/the-brendan-voyage/ At the bottom of the page you can watch the documentary about the modern guy's voyage.

Remember that I told you we won't be doing all of the reading that Wes Callahan assigned this week? This means that there will be some questions you cannot answer on the OWC printed pages. Skip those. Also, we will not be watching lecture 6 until next week, so you won't be able to answer those questions yet. Read the assignment page carefully so you will know exactly what you need to do.

Even though you don't have questions for chapter 10, you still need to read it and copy the summary at the beginning of the chapter. Don't skip it!

I was mistaken in thinking that you all had timelines already - sorry about that. Timelines can be purchased ready-made, printed online and assembled, or made from scratch. Learn about the concept here: How to Do a Book of Centuries - Simply Charlotte Mason Ambleside Online A Look at our Timeline Books | Charlotte Mason Homeschool - YouTube And here are some timelines for you: Here's one you can download and print to put into a binder: Basic Book of Centuries - Simply Charlotte Mason Here are some you can purchase ready-made: History timeline Notebook: my timeline book of world history notebook, Blank pages , from 5000 BC through AD 2024,Book of Centuries, Homeschool ... 104 Pages, 8.5" x 11"IN, for Schools, ...: secrets, little thoughts: 9798768327378: Amazon.com: Books or My Book of Centuries - Simply Charlotte Mason or Wonders of Old: A Blank Timeline Book of World History | Master Book Publishers | 9781683442721 (rainbowresource.com) (my kids use this one) I made my own using one of these: Amazon.com : Moleskine Cahier Journal, Soft Cover, XL (7.5" x 9.5") Ruled/Lined, Pebble Grey, 120 Pages (Set of 3) : Office Products I'll post pics of mine in the comments so you can see how to do it. Mine is a little complicated, but yours doesn't have to be. To keep it super simple, just let each two-page spread represent 100 years. Write the beginning of the century at the top of the left page and write the end of the century at the top of the right page. This lady made one with a plain spiral notebook (she doesn't start telling how to do it until about 4 minutes in): How to Make a Charlotte Mason Book of Centuries - YouTube If anyone needs it, I have an extra moleskine cahier journal that you can have to make your own. The only bad part is that the cover is a little bent. ☹️ Other than that, it's just like new. In your timeline you can just write dates and the event or you can get fancy and add pictures. It can be your own thing. Use your own style. I want the book to be useful for you. This is something that you can keep for your whole life!

I can’t get the link to post. If you go to Roman Roads media, you can purchase OWC on sale. You can purchase individual units or the entire “Christendom” year. Compass Classroom is also having a sale. I have not compared prices.

I know you've been on pins and needles waiting for this, so without further ado... You only need to print out the pages for week one so that you'll have that ready to turn in when we meet on 8/31. I'll print out out the rest and bring them for you to put in your binders. Okay, here's some stuff you need to know before you start working: HISTORY OF THE MEDIEVAL WORLD - I have not assigned reading of every single chapter. Because of our limited time for this class, we can only focus on western civilization. In general, I have cut out all the chapters that pertain to eastern civilization (Asia, India, etc.) because we simply don't have time to do everything. I still want to encourage you to read these chapters on your own. The history is fascinating, and it's important! HISTORY OF THE MEDIEVAL WORLD - You will have questions to answer for each chapter you read. I would prefer that you write your answers in a regular old spiral notebook because that makes grading easier on me. (I can lay them all flat on the table and go over all of them at once very quickly) I am requiring you to follow this format when answering the questions: TIMELINE ENTRIES - I've put some lines on your assignment pages where you are to write down three things that you are adding to your timelines. You still need to write them in your timelines. You are encouraged to write as many things as you want in there, but I'm requiring you to share three of them with me and with the rest of the class. I want you to bring your timelines to class each week so that we can add to them together. I think you all have timelines from previous years, right? Here's an example (sorry, I've only got two because I've only read the first chapter): QUESTIONS FOR VIDEO AND READING ASSIGNMENTS - The questions you are answering are the ones included in the printable workbooks that go with the "Old Western Culture" videos. Your parents should print these out for you. Please remind them NOT to print out the answer key for you. If you can't get them printed at home for some reason, I'll do it for you. Just tell me! ARTS AND ANTIQUITIES ASSIGNMENTS - optional; check with your parents PHILOSOPHY ASSIGNMENTS - optional; check with your parents As always, I've broken this up into four days of assignments. If that schedule doesn't work for you, feel free to change it up. With that said, it's a really bad idea to cram a bunch of work into a couple of days. Make it a habit to start your homework on Thursday and do a bit each day so that you won't have to rush to get it done before REACH. I expect good work from you. You are all in high school now. You are all young adults. I'm not going to be satisfied with childish/teenagerish efforts. If you're not doing good work, I'm going to give it back to you to do over. I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to make you do work twice, so please do a good job the first time. That's all I can think of for now. Please comment below if you have any questions.

I'm posting this here so that you'll have clickable links for the needed resources. If you have trouble accessing the file, I will text it or email it to you. In addition to what's on this document, they will need a three-ring binder and a couple of notebooks to write it.
